Hugelkulture (Who-Gull-Culture) Mound:

Hugelkulture (Who-Gull-Culture) Mound:

Logs are at the core of the mound, with soil piled on, and then you plant into it.

Reduces need for water, as logs act like sponges & retain moisture after rain/irrigation events.

Hugel Bed Design 001

Hugel Bed Design 001

1. Build up a regular Hugelkultur bed
2. Add clay piping at the top of bed
3. Make Periscope-type junctions with the pipe, so you can pour water INTO the clay pipe.

This system should minimize water usage further, and allows water to slowly wick out of the clay piping to fully saturate the mound.
